Legal Documentation — Frequently Asked Questions
Does a will need to be registered?
No. Registration of a will is optional, though it adds evidentiary value. A will must be signed by the person making it and attested by two witnesses.
Does a rent agreement need to be registered?
A lease for one year or more must be registered under the Registration Act, 1908. Many rent agreements are made for 11 months for this reason. Tenant verification with Delhi Police is still required.
What is a legal notice?
A legal notice is a formal written demand sent through an advocate before taking legal action. It often leads to settlement and, in some cases such as cheque bounce, it is a legal requirement.
